Verona Council Committees
Each committee is comprised of three council members, one of whom is the Chairperson
Executive & Administration Committee
Members:

Shall oversee borough operations, personnel matters, governance practices, and intergovernmental coordination. The committee shall make recommendations to improve and expedite the business and procedures of Council and its committees. The committee shall review staff support and training needs, personnel policies, administrative procedures, and opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness. The committee shall foster cooperative relationships with neighboring municipalities and regional organizations, including COG, and maintain relationships with state and federal representatives.
Finance , Grants & Long-Term Fiscal Planning Committee

Shall review and make recommendations regarding the Borough’s fiscal health, budgeting practices, and long-term financial sustainability. The committee shall examine spending efficiency, capital funding, pensions, debt obligations, reserves, and financial policies, and report recommendations to Council.
The committee shall actively identify, pursue, and coordinate grant opportunities; maintain a grant calendar and application schedule; seek opportunities to leverage outside funding in place of Borough funds whenever feasible; and monitor grant compliance and reporting requirements.
The committee shall work with other committees to identify priorities and funding opportunities and develop long-term strategies for capital improvements and community investments.
Infrastructure Public Safety Committee

Shall oversee borough infrastructure, transportation systems, public safety facilities, and support staff to ensure emergency readiness.
The committee shall review and recommend improvements to roads, sidewalks, pedestrian facilities, bicycle infrastructure, traffic calming measures, signage, lighting, stormwater systems, and other infrastructure needs to ensure safe, reliable, and connected transportation throughout the Borough.
The committee shall coordinate with the Borough Engineer, Planning Commission, emergency services, and regional partners on transportation planning, development reviews, Comprehensive Plan implementation, and capital improvement projects.
The committee shall maintain awareness of infrastructure needs and priorities and make recommendations regarding maintenance schedules, capital investments, and long-term improvements.
Communication & Community Engagement Committee

Shall oversee borough communications and resident engagement to ensure transparency, accessibility, and meaningful community connection.
The committee shall review and recommend improvements to communication platforms, including the Borough website, social media, newsletters, and emergency alerts. The committee shall coordinate with citizen advisory boards, develop systems for resident feedback, and ensure borough information and ordinances are accessible and understandable to the public. Work to develop a long term borough communication plan.
The committee shall support community outreach related to major Borough projects (e.g. paving projects, comprehensive plan, etc.) and ensure residents have opportunities for meaningful participation.
Parks & Recreation, Inclusion, and Quality-of-life Development Committee

Shall consider matters related to parks, recreation, accessibility, inclusion, neighborhood vitality, and community quality of life.
The committee shall oversee park amenities, maintenance priorities, ADA accessibility, support recreational opportunities, and improvements to public spaces. The committee shall promote inclusive placemaking initiatives, neighborhood beautification, and community-building efforts.
The committee shall also support initiatives related to responsible property stewardship, neighborhood cleanup, and blight reduction efforts that improve the appearance, safety, and quality of life throughout the Borough
