PLANNING DOCUMENTS AND INITIATIVES
There are several planning initiatives taking place including:
Active Transportation Plan
The Verona Active Transportation Plan (ATP) is focused on making our community a better place to walk and bike. The Plan will also identify priority connections and ways to encourage more residents to walk and bike. The Plan is in draft form and will be adopted by Verona Borough by the end of September 2022.
The Borough is in the process of completing walking and biking assessments on main Verona street corridors. The Borough will also be hosting a public meeting later in the summer to review the draft Plan and to discuss how the Plan will be implemented. If you would like to volunteer to complete an assessment or if you are interested in helping to implement recommendations, please contact Trish Hredzak-Showalter at phredzak@veronaborough.org. Please go to www.atrc-spc.org for more information on Active Transportation, how to make a community a safer place to walk and bike, and how to encourage more walking and biking.
VOPP Trail
The VOPP Trail is a planned trail that would connect the four municipalities of Verona, Oakmont, Penn Hills and Plum. One end of the trail is Steel City Rowing while the other is Boyce Park. This proposed trail is still in the planning phases.

Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range planning document that puts for the vision for Verona’s future. The Borough will need to secure grant funding to complete the Comprehensive Plan in its entirety but some portions are being written in-house. The Comp Plan Appendix A-C has been completed in summer 2022. If you are short on time, check out the summary of Appendices A-C.
